MegMeg is a lovely girl who has been in protective custody for the last 6 months! She came to us quite out of control but her behavior has been increasingly better as time has gone on. She plays with many of the other dogs very well and is now one of the calmer dogs of her age in the kennels. She is fantastic in a crate and knows many of the basic cues that I introduce to the dogs at the SPCA. Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, Target, Focus, loose leash walking and walking with a Halti! She hasn't spent much time in a real home environment although she was in foster care for some time. She is a higher energy dog but learning manners quickly. Go to Wellington SPCA's Adoption page

Meg came to the SPCA as a completely untrained 6 month old puppy with no manners whatsoever. She was the classic dog we see all the time at the SPCA and in shelters across the country. A Lab cross with boundless energy and no ability to control her impulses. Her's is the kind of story that all too frequently has a sad ending, which is why it is so wonderful that the SPCA has kept her long enough that she has had a chance to learn many of the manners that her first owners were unable to teach her. She now sits for meals and doesn't try to delightfully greet you by jumping up and kissing your cheek with a wet slobbery smooch! She actively learns new concepts and cues every time I work with her. She does have a lot of energy and will need someone willing to take her on long walks or visits to off leash areas but she is truly going to be a wonderful family dog! |

Meg really has energy to burn, but she has perfect kennel manners, she is not a barker and is calm when she is left alone. Although giving her a Kong toy stuffed with food always helps! June 25- Meg is still looking for just the right home. She would prefer to be with someone who is an experienced dog owner, although she is easy enough to handle, she still can be reactive on lead if her handler is not a confident walker! She is also sometimes subject to "Stranger Danger" but quickly makes friend when the treats come out! |
