Recommended Reading: changed the page a bit…

a small portion of my dog libraryI have altered the layout of the recommended readingpage just a little. I have now organized the books into new sections, with my top picks in the first section. These are books I feel that every person interested in dog behaviour, training, or just wants to understand their dog better, should read.

As you go down the list of ‘top picks’ you will find that the topics get progressively more complicated. So, if you are new to dogs, training, or behaviour, or you just want to an overall view of my own training philosophy, then start at the top and work your way down.

All the other books I have read (as relates to dogs) are organized into sections associated to their topics, so if you read something that you want to delve further into– you can.

There are some books that are not in line with my philosophy or methods of training. These books contain ideas or methods which are open to debate socially, morally or ethically. I have still included them as possible reads because I love for people to think critically– these books encourage that practice.

So, here are my top picks, to see the complete reading list please visit the methods-recommended reading page on my website.

  1. Thank you for sharing these! I love working my way through your recommended readings. It is really useful to have some starting points from a trusted source, given how much is out there about dogs & their behaviour and training. And then it’s lots of fun to discuss the various topics, questions and issues with friends and dog trainers.

Yep, I am really going to have to start another reading group when I get to DC.
